Beyond the economics
Why charity alone isn't enough
If poverty were only about a lack of resources, the solution would be simple: provide more resources through government, charity, or international aid. Problem solved.But it isn't that simple — because charity, on its own, only helps in the short term. Beneficiaries continue relying on the gifts of others, without ever gaining the opportunity to help themselves or their families. It becomes a cruel cycle, one that quietly convinces people of the worst things about themselves: "You are worthless. You can't provide for yourself. You must rely on others, and always will."That belief — not the empty pocket — is the real problem.
